A new graphics conference for Europe!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be participating in the first-ever Graphics Programming Conference this November in Breda, in the Netherlands. The three-day event includes keynotes from industry experts, presentations, and masterclass workshops which explore the latest advancements in graphics technology.

We’re excited to be presenting two sessions ourselves, but we’d also like to highlight some of the other sessions related to our technologies as well.

AMD sessions

What?
GPU Work Graphs

When?
Tuesday, November 12th, 10.30am

Who?
Max Oberberger (AMD)
Bastian Kuth (Coburg University)
Professor Quirin Meyer (Coburg University)

Our own Max Oberberger, along with Bastian Kuth and Quirin Meyer from Coburg University will dig into the intricacies of GPU work graphs. This session will showcase how GPU Work Graphs can be used for both general-purpose computing and graphics applications, highlighting their efficiency in reducing CPU-GPU data transfers and optimizing memory usage. You’ll learn how to identify and implement applications for Work Graphs in your own research or work context.

The presenters will also demonstrate GPU Work Graphs with various hands-on programming examples, which you will then be able to replicate yourself.

If you want to know more, we have an introductory blog series to Work Graphs here on GPUOpen too.

What?
Occupancy Explained

When?
Thursday, November 14th, 2.30pm

Who?
François Guthmann (AMD)

Join our own François Guthmann as he unpacks the complexities of GPU occupancy. This talk will cover the AMD RDNA™ architecture, the importance of latency hiding for performance, and will investigate practical examples using the AMD Radeon™ Developer Tool Suite to improve performance in latency-bound workloads.

François has a blog here on GPUOpen on Occupancy Explained if you would like to get an early taste of his talk.

Sessions featuring AMD technology

Wednesday, November 13th

2.00pm – Raytracing in Snowdrop. Massive Entertainment will share their experiences and techniques in implementing raytracing for “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” and “Star Wars: Outlaws”. Quentin Kuenlin will discuss the raytracing pipeline of the Snowdrop engine, covering the optimizations that were needed to enable raytracing effects on all consoles and also on PC.

Thursday, November 14th

11:30am – Magic Pixels: An Introduction to Frame Generation and Upscaling. Presented by Nixxes, this session is an easy introduction to current frame generation and upscaling methods. Speaker Menno Bil will be focusing on our recently launched AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution (FSR) 3.1. You’ll learn about how these methods work, what the trade-offs are, and what have been the biggest challenges in getting these techniques ready for shipping.

1:30pm – Arm Accuracy Super Resolution: Bringing efficient spatio-temporal Super Resolution to mobile. Sergio Alapont and Panagiotis Christopoulos Charitos will explain the journey of optimizing Super Resolution techniques originally designed for desktops to fit mobile platforms.

See you there!

There are many, many more fantastic presentations (full schedule here, presentation info here) at the Graphics Programming Conference. While the event itself is new, the organisers are all industry veterans with experience running other events, so you’ll be in great hands.

We’re very excited to see a new graphics conference starting up in Europe, especially with such a stellar line-up of speakers, and we wish the event team every success in November!
