Microsoft® Advanced Shader Delivery (ASD) addresses one of the most frustrating challenges for PC gamers today – long load times and disruptive stuttering during a game’s first launch, caused by the need to compile graphics shaders and cache them for future use.
With ASD, shaders required by a title are compiled ahead of time into a Precompiled Shader Database (PSDB) and downloaded to the player’s device along with game updates from storefronts that support ASD, reducing or eliminating the need to wait for shader compilation when the game launches.
To help prepare a game for ASD support on AMD graphics hardware, developers can use the AMD Direct3D® 12 (D3D12) State Object Compiler plugin downloadable from this page.
